Alberta's government is establishing a new organization called Recovery Alberta to provide mental health and addiction services for Albertans. Services currently delivered by the Addiction & Mental Health and Correctional Health Services team at Alberta Health Services will be transitioned to Recovery Alberta.
During this transition, services will remain fully available without disruption. Recovery Alberta became a legal entity on July 1, 2024.
Mental health challenges or addiction can impact anyone and recovery is possible for anyone who is struggling.
The establishment of Recovery Alberta is an exciting step government is taking to ensure services are available to Albertans when and where they need them.
Recovery Alberta will provide comprehensive and accessible recovery-oriented mental health and addiction services to all Albertans, once operational. Though Recovery Alberta is now a legal entity, the transition to operational stand-up will occur in Fall 2024. Until then, all mental health and addiction services continue to be offered by Alberta Health Services (AHS) at this time.
Kerry Bales assumed the role of Recovery Alberta Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2024.
